Funny you ask: 5 years ago, I was single! (OK, not really. We got married 5 years ago tomorrow, and we had lived together for 7 years before that.) But 5 years ago, we knew we were leaving SF for Seattle, and had no idea we would ever return. We hadn't even stumbled across eGullet, much less food blogs. We ate out a lot, and cooked pretty well, but the farmer's market was just a fun morning destination, not our religion. Local? Seasonal? Whassat?

This is always interesting to think about. I think of the last 6 -10 years and it is crazy how much has happened. Now - I never had money and still don't - can't seem to get ahead, but I keep pluggin' away and deal.

Five years ago, I was in my first year of radiation therapy, applying to grad schools (which I finished early spring), and loving my job teaching English. But, it was also the year I worked toward my Baking and Pastry certification and began to yearn for my own bakery. So, I am hoping that 5 years from now, (after taking more classes and refreshing my brain) I can have that bakery, or do something that has to do with food full time. If not that is not in the cards, and since I am an assistant administrator now, I will probably be a principal. Scary!
