I hear you, totally. My boys are in day care for the first time (they’re almost two!) three days a week because we lost our sitter. I can teach and write, and when I come home for lunch it is really quiet. Eerie.

As for the turkey sandwich, they are my favorite. I don’t like mayo much (I’m a mustard gal), but adding ancho chili powder to mayo is really tasty.

But can I suggest another? I just love turkey with some cream cheese and cranberry sauce and if they’re on hand…some sunflower seeds. It’s particularly good after Thanksgiving with leftovers but I’ve done with turkey slices and canned sauce (the one with berries in it) and for a quick and dirty version…it’s not bad for a change of pace!

I liked the article of just a plain pure turkey sandwich, but LOVED the article of gourmet food you put in- the mashed avocado!!

Now my kids are so much more independent at 11 and 13 that I can enjoy sandwiches pretty much anytime I want to, but I do sometimes miss those years when I felt so urgently needed (but not too often!).
