Sarah’s Cucina Bella’s Fifth Birthday (and a Giveaway!)

| November 9, 2010 | 15 Comments

A friend of mine made this cake for me last year. It was delish.

Can a blog have a birthday? Or is it better referred to as an anniversary? Whatever the case, five years ago today, I sat down at my old laptop and wrote the very first post ever for Sarah’s Cucina Bella. Coming from a journalism background, I hemmed and hawed about publishing it without an editor to double check and and finesse it a bit … But finally, I hit publish and there it was.

I wasn’t really sure where this blogging thing would lead, but I was hoping it would open doors into food writing for me. It did, and I am forever grateful.

The cool part though? One day, someone I didn’t know left me a comment. People — beyond my friends — were reading! Writing this blog has been so much fun over the past five years, and I am excited for what the future will bring. Thank you so much for reading Sarah’s Cucina Bella.

To celebrate, I wanted to do something a little different this year.

Sarah’s Cucina Bella Birthday Giveaway!

It might be my blog’s birthday, but you are getting the present (well, one of you anyway).

One lucky reader will receive a 1-year-subscription to either Bon Appetit, Everyday Food or Cooking Light magazine (their choice).

Happy Birthday!! I think that my favorite post is from December 21. It’s my favorite because it is a holiday tradition for me and my mom to get together and make peppermint bark for all of our extended family and friends for Christmas. We get to share some time together and listen to Christmas music while enjoying one of our favorite traditions. Also, the biscotti recipe was almost identical to one I had in a little cafe when I vistited New York city a few Decembers ago.

My fave post was this one: because it saved my butt that year! I desperately needed to supply some appies for a party I was attending and you saved the day with those amazing little morsels. My fave was the cheese and turkey pepperoni in puff pastry – YUM.

  7. Congratulations on five years; it’s certainly not easy to maintain a food blog for that long. Quite a milestone!

My other favorite (among many) was the pumpkin cupcakes with dreamy cheesecake frosting post.

My favorite post is from May ( because my fiancé uses this all the time to since the weather has started to cool off. She knows hot chocolate is my favorite drink and it gives us a good reason to cuddle up and watch a movie.

I love all your posts, and I look forward to each new one, but one that I’ve tried and loved was the Extra Crispy Homemade Fried Chicken. It’s easy and soooo tasty!
