Sarah’s Cucina Bella’s Fifth Birthday (and a Giveaway!)

A friend of mine made this cake for me last year. It was delish.

Can a blog have a birthday? Or is it better referred to as an anniversary? Whatever the case, five years ago today, I sat down at my old laptop and wrote the very first post ever for Sarah’s Cucina Bella. Coming from a journalism background, I hemmed and hawed about publishing it without an editor to double check and and finesse it a bit … But finally, I hit publish and there it was.

I wasn’t really sure where this blogging thing would lead, but I was hoping it would open doors into food writing for me. It did, and I am forever grateful.

The cool part though? One day, someone I didn’t know left me a comment. People — beyond my friends — were reading! Writing this blog has been so much fun over the past five years, and I am excited for what the future will bring. Thank you so much for reading Sarah’s Cucina Bella.

To celebrate, I wanted to do something a little different this year.

Happy Fifth Birthday! My favorite post is “The Joy of Turkey Sandwiches (and 5 Ways to Jazz Yours Up)” because I love turkey sandwiches and you provided great ideas for different ways to spice that meat up! Thanks so much!

Congratulations on your anniversary. I still remember the day I came across your blog…it was around Thanksgiving of 2006 & I spent hours reading all your posts.

Hope I’m the lucky winner. =)

Happy Birthday!! I think that my favorite post is from December 21. It’s my favorite because it is a holiday tradition for me and my mom to get together and make peppermint bark for all of our extended family and friends for Christmas. We get to share some time together and listen to Christmas music while enjoying one of our favorite traditions. Also, the biscotti recipe was almost identical to one I had in a little cafe when I vistited New York city a few Decembers ago.

Happy Birthday Sarah’s Cusina Bella and congratulations! My favorite post was the Aug 31st Camping in a Cabin, because I love being able to read your blog and see you guys and what you are up to and of course you know about my obsession with camping. My other favorite (among many) was the pumpkin cupcakes with dreamy cheesecake frosting post.

My favorite post, and one I can still remember, was one of the early ones you did about cheddar mashed potatoes. I still make those potatoes.

Congratulations! 5 years is huge milestone. I just came across your blog so I don’t have any favorites yet, but I have plenty of posts to look over and I’m sure I’ll find some favorites.

    Happy blog birthday!!!
I love all your posts, and I look forward to each new one, but one that I’ve tried and loved was the Extra Crispy Homemade Fried Chicken. It’s easy and soooo tasty!
Thanks for all the great recipes. :)

I am a newbie on your site. I love the recipe for Olive Brussels Sprouts with Feta, Roasted Red Peppers and Bacon. I am not a brussels sprouts fan but this sounds delicious. Happy Birthday!
