I totally agree -- it really is unbelievable how far we've drifted from common sense.

Also, I would be happy to teach you to cook! Don't be afraid! You can do it!

Mmm bagels and lox-- something I most definitely do not indulge in often enough.

Regarding diets-- not a fan. Never have been. As a matter of fact, the only thing I ever did that got me close to dieting was reading about the Mediterranean Diet and then not following it but just making more of an effort to eat in that way.

I was recently talking with my boyfriend about the difficulty today in eating properly and how ironic it is that the prices of natural, normal, untainted food have skyrocketed and the crap has plummeted.

Honestly, my truly largest obstacle is a lack of knowledge in a kitchen. I just don't know how to cook and I don't feel comfortable cooking and that trickles down into not feeling comfortable grocery shopping.

I've recently committed to eating more fish, fruits, and vegetables in my diet. It's not about following a prescribed diet, it's just about learning to make a habit of eating better foods overall because then the other stuff doesn't come into play as often and so when it does, it's a treat.

How we veered away from such a common-sense approach to eating is beyond me. Sad really.

Yes, exactly! In my calorie counting days, I got too far away from eating lots of fruits and veggies because of the calories. What a silly trap to fall into, right?

Breakfast in bed is the best....not that I ever really do such a thing but someday, someone will bring me bagels with lox in bed and I will be totally thrilled. It'll happen.

Yay for feeling great! I love your approach to this...even though I'm still counting points, I give myself free license to eat as many fruits and veggies as I want. I'm fairly certain that brussels sprouts were never what was standing between me and smaller jeans.

I haven't had breakfast in bed since my children were young and they cooked it. I need to work on my breakfasting that's for sure.

I have to admit that I barely glanced at the photo and instantly thought, "why would anyone make a watermelon sandwich??"

heh

Looks yummy now that I know what it is. :)

Breakfast in bed was reserved for birthdays before the baby. But the first month they became more like a necessity!
