When I fall in love with a movie, I watch it again and again and again, enjoying it more every time. Dirty Dancing, The Wizard of Oz and Annie were among my early favorites. And in more recent years, I have added Under the Tuscan Sun, Sweet Home Alabama and The Devil Wears Prada to the list too.
Yes, I have a thing for cheesy chick flicks. They are relaxing, non-stressful escapes from reality, so I watch them repeatedly. And lest you think I avoid thinking movies, I don't. I also love classic films, thought-provoking dramas and suspense. But it's the cheesy chick flicks that I come back to watch again and again.
Speaking of The Devil Wears Prada, there's a scene in it where Andy (Anne Hathaway) turns down the grilled cheese sandwich her sweet beau has whipped up for her.
That sandwich? It was made with a pile of Jarlsberg cheese -- a cheese that I am presently obsessed with. When I recently spotted Jarlsberg in the deli counter, ready to be sliced, I knew right where it was going.

Into a grilled cheese in honor of The Devil Wears Prada. I took a little liberty here with the sandwich, adding some sweet deli ham between the layers of my favorite whole grain bread and Jarlsberg cheese. It's a gooey, cheesy masterpiece. And perfect for whipping up on a cool, rainy fall afternoon while you watch The Devil Wears Prada for the millionth time.
PS: The cute pepper garnish? Just take a pepper and use a mini cookie cutter to cut out a shape. Then, use a toothpick to secure it to the sandwich.
Tell me: Do you have any movies you like to watch again and again?

The Devil Wears Prada Grilled Cheese

No need for a disclosure here. All opinions, ideas thoughts shared here are my own and are NOT compensated. I just really like The Devil Wears Prada. And Jarlsberg cheese. But neither the folks behind the movie or the cheese have any idea who I am.
Also, I discovered that some folks are finding this post by searching for "yarborough cheese." I believe you're actually looking for Jarlsberg cheese, but if not do reach out and let me know.

Too funny... I have a few movies like that... When Harry Met Sally, Under the Tuscan Sun, Grease... just to name a few that I can't turn off whenever I find them on tv.
That grilled cheese looks too good to pass up!
Yes! It drives my husband crazy, but if I see one of those favorites on TV, I have to watch.
I watch my favorite movies over and over again too. Sweet Home Alabama is one of mine!
"You have a baby! In a bar!"
Ha! Love it! That is such a quotable movie. One of my favs is "You can have roots and wings, Mel."
I love that movie! I'm definitely the same way when it comes to movies - I like a variety of different types, but it's the chic flicks that I go back to time and time again. I love Legally Blonde, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, 27 Dresses, etc.
The grilled cheese looks yummy too!
I'm currently on the Devil Wears Prada kick, and simply love the comfort of re-watching it while eating grilled cheese sandwiches... it's the little things in life that give pleasure..... 🙂
I think I've watched Prada about 30 times, less for Sweet Home but not by much, Pirates of the Caribbean about 15 times. But whenever I watch Julie/Julia, I HAVE to cook something from Julia Child so I know exactly why you've made that cheese sandwich! I think I've just about perfected Julia's Boeuf Bourguinon (made it about 3 x) and I'm moving onto perfect the chicken with the mushrooms.
This looks awful! The sandwich in the movie has way more cheese and no ham!
Sorry you feel that way! As I said in the post, this sandwich was inspired by the movie but I took a little liberty with it. Not sure what about it makes it look "awful" for you, but I am sure, given your expertise, you can make one to your liking that is more authentic without my recipe. Best wishes!
Thats EXACTLY the movie I was going to mention! Makes my mouth water each time ! I bought my mom the whole set of Julia Child cook books with those recipes. I have yet to find the time.
I also love this flick!
Yesssssss! Glad to hear from a fellow DWP fan!
I watch a lot of movies and several of them I watch multiple times. The one sandwich I'd love to try is the one that Adam Sandler makes in the movie Spanglish. It looks so good, and he doesn't get to eat it which makes me want to eat it even more
Oooh! I haven't seen that but now I will have to!
