5 Things I Can’t Get Enough Of: July 2013

Every month, I highlight products and foods that I am really enjoying. This month, I have five delicious ones to share. Enjoy!

Also, is it really July already? Whoa.

Garlic Scapes

Garlic Scapes

Have you ever had garlic scapes? These curly tops of garlic are lopped off in early summer and can be used in place of garlic in whatever recipes you want. Just mince and chop as you normally would for vinaigrettes, pastas and more.

Get it: You can find these are farmers markets, but hurry — the garlic scape season is almost over.

Goo Goo Clusters

Goo Goo Clusters

I first heard about Goo Goo Clusters on social media a few years ago. I finally got to try them last year when some were in my Food Blog Forum swag bag. You can imagine my excitement when I found them in my Food Blog Forum swag bag again this year — especially when the Peanut Butter ones were included. They are so heavenly. And even if they aren’t available in your area, you can buy them online — score.

Get it: Goo Goo Clusters are available online and at select stores like Cracker Barrel.

citizen Chef Limone Garlic

Citizen Chef Limone Garlic Fresh Sauce

When the Citizen Chef sauces arrived on my doorstep from a PR person, I wasn’t sure what to do with them. Initially I thought I’d drizzle it over something I was making but after reading about the sauce, that seemed to be the wrong use (you could use it like that though). Fortunately, once I learned more about it, I could practically taste it with pasta, shrimp and greens. If you love the flavors of lemon and garlic, then this sauce is totally for you. What I loved about it was how easy it was. This pasta was ready in the 10 minutes or so it took to cook the pasta. All I did was saute some kale, add the sauce and cooked shrimp and toss it with the pasta. It was easy, tasted as fresh as if I’d made the sauce from scratch and was lick-your-plate good. They have several other varieties that I am looking forward to trying too.

Get it: These sauces are available at Costco, Safeway, Stop & Stop, Food Emporium and more. Check their website for exact locations.

farm fresh eggs

Eggs Fresh from a Farm

Have you ever had eggs fresh from a farm? It’s an experience totally different than anything you could get with eggs from the grocery store. Farm fresh eggs are bursting with flavor and have these brilliant orange yolks. And for me, I really appreciate knowing the chickens that our eggs come from (see? That’s them above!). Eggs fresh from a farm are my absolute favorite for morning eggs, breakfast for dinner, you name it …

Get it: Local farms, farmers markets, etc. In our area of Connecticut, we can get farm fresh eggs from roadside honor boxes too.

Coffee Mate Girl Scout Creamer

Coffee-Mate Girl Scouts Caramel and Coconut Creamer

Love Girl Scouts Samoas Cookies? There’s a new coffee creamer that will make your morning cup taste like them — and let me tell you: it’s good! You have to try this Girl Scouts Caramel and Coconut Creamer from Coffee Mate.

Get it: It’s available in grocery stores where you’d normally find your creamer. Keep an eye out for it.

Disclosure: Where noted, I received product samples to try some of these items. However, this is editorial content and all opinions are my own.
