Pumpkin Butterscotch Cake Shake Recipe

Game Day Pumpkin Butterscotch Milkshakes

Hey, hey, it’s football season!

No matter who you root for (and in our house, that means totally different teams), weekends from September through the biggest game of all in February mean football. Thankfully, even with our busy schedules, we can usually all come together to tune in for at least one of the games on Sundays — or sometimes the Monday game when our favorite teams are playing.

One of our football season family traditions is to gather around the living room and have a Sunday dinner of our favorite game day foods — from pizza, veggies and dip and homemade wings to delicious desserts. It’s just a relaxed, fun time where we enjoy a game together — and indulge a little. Family traditions like that are just everyday fun … and that’s so important. These are the things happy family memories are made of. And someday, hopefully, the kids will look back and remember how much they enjoyed our game day fun.

Tastykake recently asked me to share a little about our family fun for their Game Day Traditions with a Tasty Twist campaign. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to talk food. But first, do you know Tastykake? I’ve been a huge fan ever since a friend introduced me to their iconic KandyKakes — which I am still wild for.

Game Day Snacks

We love our game day snacks. But whenever I am planning food for something like this, I make sure to include plenty of fruits and veggies along with our other favorites. While it’s still growing season, fresh ears of sweet corn, veggie platters with locally grown tomatoes and peppers and roasted veggies are all good additions. We usually also have a big salad as well.

Game Day Dessert Bar

And then there’s dessert. When it’s just our family of four, we have one dessert. But when we have guests, a fun spread of desserts can be a tremendous treat. Cupcakes, favorite candies displayed in glass dishes (so pretty!) and even a selection of Tastykake Chocolate Frosted Mini Donuts and powdered ones too can be perfect.

But back to that one dessert … if you are going to only have one, it better be super. And boy, do I have a super one for you.

Our Game Day Pumpkin Butterscotch Cake Shakes are a decadent cool treat. This recipe is adapted from Tastykake’s own recipe for The Cake Shake. Rich with the perfect fall flavors of pumpkin and butterscotch, these milkshakes are unforgettable (and easy too!). And part of that fabulous flavor comes from a special ingredient: A TastyKake Butterscotch Krimpet. The golden sponge cake treat with creamy butterscotch frosting is a huge flavor booster.
