Love Wins: Sandy Hook, One Year Later

20131213-141043.jpg

One year ago today, our lives changed dramatically over a span of less than 10 minutes.

Today, I don’t have anything profound to say. Over the last year, we have worked on healing. We have rejoiced in every day. We have counted our many blessings, and thanked God again and again that Will came home that day — especially since his proximity to danger was measured in mere feet.

As we face the one year anniversary of one of the most horrific school shootings ever, I hope you remember the people — those beautiful lives lost that day. And when you remember them, don’t be silent. Be vocal. Do something. Whether it’s a random act of kindness for a stranger, an unexpected hug or kind word to a loved one or something else, do something positive in their memory. Then, love really does win.

All I know is that you are raising one smart, wise and compassionate kid. I will do a random act of kindness for someone this week for Will!

This must be a very difficult time of year for you and your loved ones this year. Please hug them a little tighter for those of us out here.
