This was taken at about 3:40 a.m. the other night. And yes, that’s the dog behind the couch —

Let me back up for a minute.

3:30 a.m. My husband woke me up because he heard a banging outside. Rather than lay there and wonder, I pulled on my boots, demanded a flashlight and went to investigate. Let me paint this picture in full: me, in a little black tank top and flowered pajama pants with brown Uggs, stomping up my long driveway with a giant flashlight and a chip on my shoulder . . . I found nothing (we were concerned that the delinquents were back destroying mailboxes), no one, no source . . . probably a good thing. Anyway, back down the driveway and into bed I went.

Then, minutes later, there was a thud in the living room. Was it the delinquents? No. Was it a burgler? No.

It was the dog. Rolling off the couch. And falling behind it.

Stupid dog. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I quickly snapped the above photo before Shawn rescued him.

WDB: Yea, he’s got an identity crisis.

After Snoopy tried unsuccessfully to jump into Will’s highchair this morning, I figured I’d see what he did if . . . I fed him breakfast on the high chair. Yea, he settled right in and started eating.

The dog has an identity crisis. He’s sits up on our kitchen chairs, drinks out of glasses and helps himself to snacks from the lazy susan (if we aren’t carefully watching). Just last night, I got up to go to the bathroom and returned to find Snoopy laying in my place. I couldn’t convince him to leave so I through the covers over his head (and over me) assuming that would compel him to leave. It didn’t. Instead he settled in, using my leg as a pillow. Yes, under the blankets.

But, he’s cute . . . so he gets away with it.

WDB: Hint, Hint

This is Scrappy.

He used to have a dog bed. Actually, he had a few. But Snoopy, my other beagle, figured out how to open the zipper and Scrappy pulled all the stuffing out of the dog beds – one by one. That’s why he no longer has a dog bed. After he ruined the last one I swore no more.

It’s been about a year since he ate the last one. He’s been a sport about it. Now he naps in his crate (which does have a soft mat in it). Except in the past month or so, Scrappy decided to improvise . . . apparently, the absence of a real dog bed, the laundry basket filled with freshly folded clothes will do.

Do you think he’s trying to give us a hint?

Oh, and I think Scrappy is looking for a vacation . . . in China. It seems that he’s discovered the groundhog hole and is going hog wild trying to investigate it . . . time to find some dirt to fill it in. Ugh. Nature.

WDB: Who’d a thunk it?

Scrappy (left) and Snoopy (right) were down for their early afternoon nap when I snapped this photo earlier. Who would’ve thought a dog could sleep in a position like Scrappy, who was half sitting up while resting again the pillow.

Apparently, he needed this siesta before running off to take a trip around the neighborhood this afternoon. I think he’s outsmarted the electric fence.

Last post today. I swear. I just wanted to post this cute picture of Scrappy kissing Snoopy.

And then there is this one of them checking out one of the future garden sites in my yard. I bet they can’t wait to start stealing the vegetables.
