It’s that time again! Time to nominate the best and the brightest in food blogging for the annual Food Blog Awards. Awards are given out in 14 categories including best photography, best family/kids food blog, best theme, best drinks blog and the coveted best new blog and best food blog overall.

Now in its sixth year, the Food Blog Awards are hosted by The Well Fed Network. Nominations are accepted between now and Friday, January 9 at 11:59 p.m. to get your nominations in. Judges, which include yours truly, then select the top five from the nominations. Finally, voting is opened up to the public to crown the winners.

Now, go forth and nominate.

Also, just on a side note, I mentioned last week that Cucina Bella isn’t eligible — now, let me tell you why: because I am among the 2007 judges (my second year as a judge)! I am so excited to be judging again this year. It’s a great way to discover new (to me) blogs. Last year, I found quite a few good ones during the process.

Anyway, it’s a new rule this year that the sites of judges are not eligible. Although those who were nominated last year did recuse themselves from all discussions in their category, we wanted more transparency this year. I am hoping that our new set of rules will better meet public expectations.

Alright everyone, it’s that time! The 2007 Food Blog Awards have been announced. Nominations open on Nov. 30 and continue through Dec. 5. So start thinking of your favorite food blogs so you can get your nominations in on time.

Unfortunately, Cucina Bella can’t be in the running this year (and I cannot nominate any blogs) . . . more on that later.

As a judge of this year’s FBAs, I am proud of the contribution I made and happy with our selections for finalists. I have no qualms about the popular blogs that didn’t make the cut. Just because a blog is popular doesn’t mean that it’s the best. Just because a blog is unknown doesn’t mean it’s not the best.
