Me and My Writing …
My earliest memories revolve around two things: helping my aunt in the kitchen on Sundays and pretending to be a writer. Once I was old enough to write sentences I began writing anything I could from stories about witches to journals that are long since lost.
After high school, I chose to go to school in New York because New York is a city of writers and stories . . . and I knew that would be the perfect place for me. After studying political science and a little writing at Barnard College, I began my career in journalism. Since then, I have been published in dozens of newspapers including the New Haven Register, the Litchfield County Times, The Register Citizen and the New York Times. From courts and cops to school district scandals, I have covered a little bit of it all.
In 2005, I began exploring the world of food writing. In addition to Sarah’s Cucina Bella, I am managing editor of editorial for The Well Fed Network. I also write about parenting and pregnancy for SheKnows.com and marriage and early childhood for Family Eden.
Before taking the plunge into full-time freelancing, I was an editor for Weekly Reader, a division of Reader’s Digest, and helped create Weekly Reader’s CE News Blog for middle school kids.
