Spicy Thai Curry Soup, Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Big News

From new recipes to a big announcement, here’s what’s happening around Sarah’s Cucina Bella.


Months ago, my friends at the KitchenAid Blog, The Kitchenthusiast, asked to create a chicken soup with a twist. And since I love a challenge, I started by making my own Thai-style red curry paste for a spicy, succulent Spicy Thai Curry Soup with Chicken. The resulting soup is creamy and comforting but also hearty and satisfying. It’s perfect for anyone who adores spicy foods … like me!

Have you been following along with my column for The Bangor Daily News (full disclosure: I am the senior features editor for the paper), Maine Course? Well, you won’t want to miss this week’s recipe there: Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Andouille Sausage and Apricots. Here’s why you might want to try them — taken from my column — “Sweet roasted Brussels sprouts are tossed with bits of andouille sausage and dried apricots and then finished with a sweet glaze made from fresh maple syrup and mustard.”

And finally, I have a bit of big news. Earlier this year, DK Publishing approached me about co-writing a cookbook on ancient grains. After a lot of back and forth (and questioning the sanity of writing a cookbook whilst moving six hours north and also starting a new job), I agreed. And now … it’s available for pre-order on Amazon!
