7 Salmon Recipes to Try This Week

You know that salmon is good for you — most of us have heard it again and again. It’s heart-healthy and packs a hearty dose of antioxidants. But there’s a lot more to the healthy goodness of salmon. As it turns out, salmon is also good for (ready for this?) your skin. Yes, that’s right.

If you want smoother, more beautiful skin, then eating salmon can help.

Salmon (along with walnuts, canola oil, and flax seed) is filled with essential Omega-3 fatty acids that are key foods for healthy skin, says Dr. Susan Stuart of San Diego, California. Why? Well, those fatty acids are what give you healthy cell membranes — which are the skin’s bouncer letting nutrients in and keeping harmful things out.

“Because it is the cell membrane that also holds water in, the stronger that barrier is the better your cells can hold moisture. And that means plumper, younger-looking skin,” says Stuart.

Good to know. Now, pass the salmon, please.

Available at most grocery stores and fish markets, salmon is also accessible and delicious. These creative salmon recipes are perfect for lunches and dinners served with salads or other side dishes. Add one to your meal plan this week!
