The Holidays in New York, 2012

New York during the holidays is magical. And crazy. The crisp air, accented with the sweet scent of glazed roasted nuts and the yeasty goodness of hot pretzels, greets the busiest of street corners.

Buildings are decked out in finery — ribbons, bows and magnificent window displays. People line up to see them.

Then there are the traditions. The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. Ice skating at Rockefeller Center. Christmas Eve in Times Square. They are all equal parts magnificent and too much.

Still, I love it — every busy, tourist-filled, excited moment of it. It’s breathtaking and beautiful.
