Cool watermelon combines with zesty ginger and smooth coconut water in this easy Watermelon Ginger Smoothie recipe for one.

Warm weather has finally arrived in Maine. That’s good news after what felt like never-ending cold weather that we experienced from fall through … well, really recently. Of course, this is Maine so we do expect such things.

But as a mom, warm weather brings with it some specific concerns. My daughter is prone to dehydration which means we have to be constantly vigilant about what she’s eating and drinking.

It’s not just about water consumption — a healthy flow of fruits and electrolyte-rich drinks helps keep dehydration at bay. Plus, my son runs track in the spring and summer and also plays soccer. Keeping him hydrated is so important too.

Beyond our oversized water bottles filled daily with ice and water, I love keeping bottled drinks like Odwalla and ZICO as well as fresh cut fruit around because they are convenient ways to make sure my kids and I are getting the nutrition we need throughout the day.

Our local Shaw’s carries all three and it’s so convenient.

Their selection of Fresh Cut Fruit includes berries, melons, pineapple and more. These are great for enjoying with meals, as snacks or packing in lunch boxes.

Why these drinks though? Well, they taste good but it’s more than that.

Did you know that ZICO® Coconut Water contains 5 electrolytes: potassium, magnesium, sodium, calcium, and phosphorus? Electrolytes are so important to how a body functions. And made with high-quality, non-GMO ingredients, Odwalla is available in a wide variety of 100% juices and smoothies, protein and almond milk shakes.

We love many of the varieties and they are perfect for enjoying with breakfast, lunch or after a workout.

And, when I have time, I also love to whirl together drinks like a Watermelon Ginger Smoothie. This refreshing drink is a favorite around here.

This Watermelon Ginger Smoothie is a simple, 3-ingredient smoothie without any dairy. Serve it as cold as you can — it’s best that way.

Hi Kathleen, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, that's not information I provide with my recipes. However, SparkRecipes.com has a nutritional calculator that I've used for myself before and it's pretty easy to use for finding that information. Hope that helps!
